Toddler Bag

Here is just a quick bag that I whipped up for my niece for Christmas - she's a toddler. Now, normally I would have pictures of my progress, but those are forever lost (my phone is ruined, that's where I keep everything)

However, as it is a very simple and straight forward pattern, I feel that just the finished project should suffice.

First, I shall start out by showing you that this is the yarn I used.

I have very recently found out that it has been discontinued. However, I believe this pattern will work with any Bulky (5) yarn. :)

This is what it will look like in the end.

(Please excuse the bad picture, I used a very old phone to take it - I should invest in a proper camera.)

As I've said, this is a very simple, straightforward pattern, you can even change it up and do what you will with it. I look at this as more of a template.

Things you will need:

9mm crochet hook
Bulky (5) yarn
Yarn needle
Scissors

Abbreviations:

SC = Single Crochet

Let's begin!

Bag:

Chain 21, turn
Row 1-50: In second loop from hook, SC. SC to end, turn.

At the end of row 50, finish off.

Strap:

Chain 6, turn
Row 1-85: In second loop from hook, SC. SC to end, turn.

At the end of row 85, finish off.

Assembly:

Fold the bag piece so that the first 20 rows overlap the next 20 rows, leaving 10 rows free to be used as a cover flap.

If you find it easier, pin the sides in place before sewing. Grab your yarn needle and thread it with a sufficient amount of yarn to sew up the sides.

After the side are sewn together, flip the bag right side out, this gives it more room on the inside and hides your seams.

From here, sew on the strap wherever you feel comfortable putting it. Personally, I sewed it right on the sides, about five rows down from the flap.

TADA, you're finished!

Now, like I said, this is a very basic pattern. I don't even like calling it that. It's a template. It's simple. You can add or subtract stitches when you chain to change the size, same with the strap. This is just a quick guideline for anybody who wants a quick bag. :)

Stay tuned for more - better! - patterns!

Introduction

Hey there, if you're reading this, you've probably stumbled in from my other blog where I post about my crafts and their progress!

I decided to make a second blog for all the patterns that I make that I wish to share with everyone - please note, a lot of my amigurumi patterns will not be for free and can be found on my - soon to be - etsy shop. :)

If you follow my other blog, most of you will know that I large work in just crochet. However, I have been know to dabble in other things:

Plastic Canvas
Loom-knitting
Knitting (rarely)
Needle Felting (more as a decoration for amigurumi, though)

However, I would love to try my hand at cross stitching and leather working. But, those are things that I'm sure will come in time.

Stay tuned for awesome patterns to come! :)
